With rapid population growth worldwide, there has been a significant demand for construction in urban cities. Traditional construction methods pose unique challenges, such as significant lead times, high initial investment, increase in carbon emissions and lack of experienced contractors and skilled workers. To address these challenges, this project aims to develop an innovative construction solution using AI-based robotic control, multi-sensor fusion, and crane technologies for efficient modular construction.
The project is funded by a two-year $1 million NSERC grant. Implementation of the project outcomes in the field is expected to be in collaboration with several industrial partners such as WSP, Stantec, Stack Modular, Bird Construction, Rogers, etc.
