The 3rd CCSSEE will be hosted at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, from August 11-15, 2025
Overview
The China-Canada Symposium on Structural and Earthquake Engineering (CCSSEE) is an international event that brings together researchers and engineers in the fields of structural and earthquake engineering to share innovative ideas, research progress, and practical solutions. The forum provides a unique international and multidisciplinary platform of communication and discussion, followed by a series of technical sessions and 3 Minute Theses (3MT) from graduate students in all disciplines of structural and earthquake engineering. The 1st CCSSEE was held in 2017 in Vancouver. The 2nd CCSSEE was held in Guangzhou, China, in 2019.
Despite the challenges posed by the global pandemic, we are finally back this year! The symposium will provide a unique international and multidisciplinary platform for communication and discussion, framed by a series of technical sessions and student presentations in all aspects of structural and earthquake engineering, offering an invaluable opportunity to exchange ideas.

We recommend that you travel to Vancouver International Airport (YVR) in Richmond, BC, which is approximately 12 km from Downtown Vancouver and 15 km from the University of British Columbia.
Downloadable Transit Map of Metro Vancouver
From Vancouver International Airport (YVR) to Your Hotel / UBC Campus
Transportation from the airport into the city is available in several forms: hired car services such as traditional taxis, Uber and Lyft, car rental/share services such as Evo or Zipcar, or public transportation. For your reference, a traditional taxi from YVR to UBC would take roughly $45 and about 30 minutes, whereas taking public transportation would take roughly $10 and 60 minutes. We recommend using Google Maps to plan your travel while visiting Vancouver, as it will provide accurate estimates for travel times and public transit schedules.
Parking at UBC
There are three main Parkades available to attendees: the North Parkade, the Health Science Parkade, and the University Blvd. Lots. Locations are identified on the UBC Parking Map. Parking spaces are available on a first-come, first-served basis, with regular rates of $4/hr or $20.00/day (except the University Blvd. Lot) and are open 24/7.
